The decision to enter counseling can be difficult and overwhelming, especially if you have had bad experiences in the past. Steve Pierog will work with you, at your own pace, to develop and implement a plan to improve your life and reach the goals you set for yourself. Steve work with adults that are struggling with mental illness, substance use issues, dual diagnosis, or find it difficult to manage the stress of life. Together you will develop a view of how you want your life to look and then work on the plan to get you there.
During Steve’s time working in the community mental health setting, at a local non-profit as well as in a private practice Steve has found that, for many men, the counseling process can be an uncomfortable especially when they are asked to explore emotions that they have not “looked at” for a long time. For that reason, he chose to focus on making the counseling session comfortable for anyone. In order to do this Steve uses a combination of therapeutic techniques that include Acceptance and Commitment Counseling (ACT), Dialect Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
