Pam Schubert is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has been working with children and families for 23 years. In addition to her clinical license she is a Register Play Therapist-Supervisor and Certified in EMDR. She obtained her Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from University of Houston in 1994.
As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor she can utilize Play Therapy techniques to speak the language of young children and then work with their families on implementing changes that allow the child optimal metal health. In addition, she is certified in EMDR, an approach that can very effectively address and resolve traumatic memories as well as treat sources of anxiety.
Pam has worked in a variety of clinical settings, through her work she has gained expertise in working with individuals of all ages. She was a clinician at The Children’s Assessment Center and provided treatment to children and adults who were victims of sexual abuse. In addition, she worked at an outpatient addiction treatment center addressing trauma by utilizing EMDR. She has been a mental health consultant for Head Start for 12 years providing early childhood expertise to teachers, administrators and parents. In addition, she has spent 14 years training and supervising metal health professionals in Play Therapy.
Pam had been humbled by the work of her clients and has been amazed by the capacity of the human spirit to heal. She believes that a trusting relationship is essential to therapeutic process, her goal is to partner with her clients to address and overcome difficult situations of the past and present. Her work draws from a variety of evidenced based approaches, including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian and Client Centered. In addition to talk therapy, Pam is versed in several expressive therapies, such as; Play Therapy, Sandtray and Trauma Sensitive Yoga.
