Mike Wynne is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. He graduated from Santa Clara University with a BA in Philosophy and Studio Arts. He earned a Masters degree from The Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California and a Masters in Social Work from The University of New Hampshire. Mike has worked in the field of social work since 2008, first working with adolescents in a day treatment program and then focusing on adults with varying mental health diagnoses in a community mental health setting. Prior to joining the Counseling Center, Mike worked at The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester for 3 years as a psychotherapist. In this role he was able to work with a multidisciplinary team of mental health and medical providers, while providing evidence based therapy and case management for clients with major mental health diagnoses. Mike is also a dog lover and enthusiast of wild and remote great outdoors!
Mike has background working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma Informed Care. In addition to these approaches, Mike uses Mindfulness techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Socratic Questioning, Reflective Listening and makes use of a Solution Focused approach.
Mike's interests include helping clients learn skills to more effectively manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma history, personality disorders and life transitions. He is comfortable and trained to work with other disorders and challenges as needed. Mike has background working with members of the LGBTQIA community and using creative and spiritual practices as grounding techniques.
