About Margaret Evans, LCPC

My history as a provider includes working in residential settings, in home care, community care, and individual outpatient care with children, adolescents, adults and their families. Most recently I have been providing outpatient therapy to refugee and immigrant clients and their children. I specialize working with clients who have struggled with depression, anxiety, low-self efficacy and feel in a rut in life, as well as those who experienced significant trauma or have more significant emotional/behavior concerns. Additionally, I have provided individual counseling for parents struggling with overwhelming feelings of exhaustion, anxiety, depression which can stem from having a child with a severe diagnosis or social, emotional and behavioral concerns.

I am trained in several evidence-based modalities of treatment for children, pre-teens, adolescents, early adults and adults: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Play therapy, Sand Tray and Art Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and Conduct Problems. I am currently working towards gaining credentialing in Internal Family Systems treatment. During sessions I integrate strategies from these theoretical perspectives while focusing on each client's unique set of values, preferences, needs and goals for treatment.

Therapeutic Approach

My goal is to establish good therapeutic relationships with my clients to promote trust and self-awareness. During our session’s clients will work at their own pace and will work to gain realistic skills that will assist them with meeting their goals and managing their day-to-day life. I will encourage clients to be fully engaged in their sessions by utilizing collaborative problem-solving and identifying and practicing more fulfilling patterns of thought and behavior. The hope is this will allow the gaining of greater self-understanding and self-acceptance. I practice and support alternative and complimentary wellness approaches. My style is genuine, down to earth, and interactive.
