Karen Desmarais (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over 16 years of experience specializing in depression, anxiety, substance misuse, chronic medical issues, and grief/bereavement.
Karen attended the University of Massachusetts in Boston where she received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and obtained her master’s degree in Community Mental Health at Southern New Hampshire University.
Karen treats people between the ages of 17 and 90 using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and a Person-Centered approach. She believes in empowering her clients to succeed and reach their goals. Karen has extensive experience in counseling adolescents, adults and seniors. Karen has management experience and has worked as a clinical specialist. She is practiced in making clinical assessments and has knowledge of crisis intervention and stabilization strategies. In her clinical work, Karen utilizes traditional therapeutic techniques as well as creative therapies including music, guided imagery, art, and role play. In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two high energy cats as well as performing stand-up comedy.
