Julia received her Masters of Science in Mental Health Practice from New England College, Henniker NH. She has been practicing as a Master Licensed Alcohol and Other Drug Use professional since 2009. Julia began her career working with youth and adolescents in substance abuse treatment. Since then she has accumulated over 20 years of direct care and clinical experience working with adults in the field of substance use disorder treatment and co-occurring conditions.
She has worked in detoxification programs, both high and low intensity residential settings, transitional living programs, correctional facilities and outpatient treatment settings. She has extensive experience working with individuals managing legal problems and substance use disorders. She holds a certificate in Forensic Counseling.
Julia has experience facilitating intensive outpatient group treatment as well as small, gender specific group treatment.

Along with treating substance use disorders, Julia has experience treating anxiety disorders, including agoraphobia, generalized anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. She is a trauma and resilience-informed therapist and her approach is strength-based. She identifies attachment theory, dislocation theory, and schema therapy as forming the theoretical foundation of her practice.

Julia has extensive experience working with both men and women experiencing guilt and shame. Julia also incorporates traditional and general therapies such as CBT. Julia is experienced in 12 Step supported outpatient treatment as well. She encourages both individual and group participants by teaching and offering psychoeducation, which creates an atmosphere which is interactive and collaborative.
