About Heidi Kraft, APRN

Heidi has been involved with Psychiatric Nursing in various roles since 2005, having worked in such settings as an inpatient adolescent unit as a medication and charge nurse. She’s done psychiatric nursing in an outpatient pediatric setting, as well as in residential-educational adolescent settings. She has had experience assessing and treating many different types of mental health issues and diagnoses occurring in the adolescent population in which she has specialized. She is very aware of the interaction of the mental and physical health problems of those she treats. Heidi has assumed leadership roles throughout her nursing career.

She has worked on a number of quality improvement initiatives, program development, as well as the design and implementation of various training programs in psychiatric nursing. She has experience working with community stakeholders, for example, she assembled an interdisciplinary team to work with mentally ill diabetic children toward strengthening the quality of care and system response to these children. Heidi has served on the Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health., as well as serving as the Vice Chair of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Content Expert Panel for psychiatric RNs.

Heidi received her masters-level psychiatric nurse practioner degree from Northeastern in 2012 As an APRN Heidi worked in the psychiatry department of a not-for-profit mental health outpatient clinic doing outpatient and in-home therapy as well as medication management, crisis intervention, program development and budget management. As Director of Psychiatry Services she worked with the company’s Residential and Continuum programs throughout her seven years of service in this capacity.
