Types of service I offer
Testing & Evaluation: I provide neuropsychological and psychological assessment of individuals across the lifespan. I have experience using assessment to help understand and treat the neurocognitive, social, and emotional concerns of people with complex medical histories, psychiatric issues, brain injuries, dual diagnosis, and trauma in both inpatient (psychiatric), forensic, and outpatient settings. In this capacity, I have been able to utilize the assessment as both a diagnostic and therapeutic tool. A good assessment may explain a person’s current abilities, but an excellent assessment empowers my patient and their family to move forward with hope. I completed a predoctoral internship in Neuropsychology at the Utah State Hospital followed by a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at Utah State Hospital and Brigham Young University’s Brain Imaging and Behavior Lab.
Psychotherapy: I offer individual, couples, and family therapy on a limited basis using evidence-based practices including DBT, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy, Seeking Safety, and cognitive remediation. I have provided therapy in outpatient, inpatient, private practice, and correctional settings since 2006 when I obtained my Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University. I work with those who have a diverse range of concerns including adjusting to life transitions, anxiety, serious mental illness, caregiver stress, identity issues, relationship challenges, and borderline personality disorder. I am pursuing additional training in Trauma focused CBT, Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy, and Compassion focused therapy.
What I specialize in
I am a neuropsychologist in the process of applying for board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in order to ensure that my practice of neuropsychology is consistent with the highest standards of practice. As part of my specialist training, I have expertise in the assessment of neurocognitive disorders across the lifespan, complex differential diagnoses, and the treatment of cognitive impairments using cognitive remediation. Additionally, I have advanced training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy through Marsha Linehan’s Behavioral Tech, Seeking Safety, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and in the Rorschach Test using the Exner Comprehensive and R-PAS systems. My dissertation research and other professional interests include the therapeutic support for caregivers and families of individuals with impairments across the lifespan.
