About Benjamin Ballou, LCMHC, MLADC

Ben Ballou earned his Bachelor's degree in management from Plymouth State University and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Rivier University. Ben is licensed in New Hampshire as both a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), and has been providing therapeutic services to patients in both areas he is licensed in for several years. Over this time Ben has provided both group and individual therapy, treating patients struggling with numerous mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, addiction, dual diagnosis issues (common in addiction), personality disorders, anger management, relationship issues, and self esteem/confidence issues.

My training and experience has led me to view mental health, physical health, and general wellness as interconnected. I work with people from a holistic perspective, helping them work to achieve the lives they want and deserveā€. Ben is trained in and utilizes several treatment modalities, including Cognitive behavior therapy, Motivational interviewing, Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Ben is a long time mindfulness practitioner, and draws on his 28 years of mindfulness practice to be fully present and attentive in the moment. In addition to this, he teaches clients practical mindfulness skills for use in their work to achieve the life they want. Some people really connect with mindfulness; if they do, we explore it further in individual sessions. If they don't, we move on to other skills to find what works best for them and helps them the most.

Ben is passionate about working in the field of mental health and substance use disorder treatment. ""Everyone deserves to have a fulfilling life and sense of contentment. To to be able to work with people striving for this is truly a privilege.
