Danielle Ackerman, LICSW
Danielle Ackerman is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Bachelor of
Science degree in Psychology from Worcester State University, and her Master's degree in Clinical
Social Work from Boston College, both in the state of Massachusetts. Ms. Ackerman completed her
first year internship at the Hello House for Men, a substance abuse treatment program run by the
Volunteers of America, in the South End of Boston. She provided individual and group psychotherapy
to adult males. Her second year internship was completed at the Brookline Community Mental
Health Center where she treated adults in individual, couples and family therapy. Her post-graduate
clinical work includes psychotherapy, case management, medical social work and hospice care.
Danielle's therapeutic style utilizes a holistic and integrative approach, drawing upon each individual's
intrinsic strengths, to tailor treatment to their specific needs. She draws from a number of modalities
including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy,
solution-focused and more. Ms. Ackerman focuses on meeting the client where they are and building
a therapeutic alliance to ensure a collaborative approach to treatment.
Danielle has worked with clients across generations and populations to identify coping skills, foster
independence and encourage healthy living. She has a special interest in maternal mental health,
both antepartum and postpartum depression, infertility, and early family experiences, as well
as LGBTQ+ and gender identity support. Additional areas of clinical interest include: depression,
anxiety, life transitions, mindfulness, interpersonal difficulties, parent/child relationships, parental
stress,and grief and loss.
