Range of Services
Alexandra Baltimore is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, dually licensed in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State University and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from UMass Boston.
Before joining The Counseling Center, Ms. Baltimore served as a domestic violence specialist in the Massachusetts child welfare system. She provided intensive support and best practice training to fellow social workers to help children and families impacted by domestic violence, abuse and neglect work toward safety, stability and permanency. Ms. Baltimore's experience gave her an in depth understanding of family systems and the complexities of child welfare involvement.

For five years prior, Ms. Baltimore worked at a domestic violence agency, providing both short and long-term individual and group therapy to those seeking counseling, support and recovery from domestic violence and sexual assault. Additionally, Ms. Baltimore trained and supervised the agency's clinical interns, assisted with program development, and worked with women and children living in the program's emergency shelter to advocate for safety, stability, and peace in their lives.

Ms. Baltimore has also treated men and women seeking recovery with mental health and substance use disorders, both in a home setting and in a psychiatric correctional facility. She provided individual and group counseling around living with chronic mental health conditions, substance use assessments, harm reduction and relapse prevention, in addition to providing crisis intervention, suicide and risk assessments, ongoing case management and collaborating with other disciplines to improve care.

Alexandra believes in a strength-based, person-centered approach that brings all aspects of what makes somebody who they are into the therapeutic process. She draws on her training in a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy in sessions, in addition to mindfulness, humor, honesty and simple human connection.

Ms. Baltimore specializes in domestic violence counseling, women's issues and relationship concerns. In addition, her broad range of clinical skills includes working with clients to treat substance use disorders and adult children of alcoholics; depression, anxiety and other mood disorders; obsessive compulsive disorders; thought disorders; post-traumatic stress and trauma recovery; family and adolescent issues and life transitions.
